If you’ve finally wrapped your head around the vast changes laid out in the 2018 edition of the Facility Guidelines Institute’s Guidelines for Design and Construction, then FGI is eager for your input on its 2022 revisions.
The Institute has issued a call for the public—particularly healthcare professionals and AHJs using the document in the field—to submit proposals to correct, update, or add to the 2018 Guidelines and comments on the drafts of the 2022 Guidelines for Design and Construction of Hospitals, Guidelines for Design and Construction of Outpatient Facilities, and Guidelines for Design and Construction of Residential Health, Care, and Support Facilities once the latter become available.
The proposal period is open through midnight Sunday, June 30, 2019.
FGI is encouraging suggestions that focus on areas where language could be improved for clarity or updates that might better support clinical practices, infection prevention and control, and safe and effective patient and resident care.
In addition, FGI aims to simplify the comment process with an updated online system. Proposals or Beyond Fundamentals suggestions can be submitted via www.fgiguidelines.org/revisions. All submitted proposals will be available for public review and interested parties may submit opinions supporting or opposing any of them.
All proposals, and opinions submitted on the proposals, will be reviewed by the 2022 Health Guidelines Revision Committee (HGRC). Those accepted by the HGRC will be incorporated in the draft 2022 Guidelines documents, which will be available for public comment in summer 2020.
