Abstract:
Aging healthcare facilities face increasing challenges from indoor environmental risks, including compromised air quality, water intrusion, hazardous materials, and hidden structural hazards. These issues can lead to unanticipated operational disruptions, escalating repair costs, regulatory non-compliance, and adverse impacts on patient safety. In this session, attendees will learn how proactive environmental audits, regular assessments, and strategic risk management practices can uncover hidden vulnerabilities before they escalate into costly crises. Through real-world examples and actionable insights, this presentation will equip healthcare facility managers with the tools to safeguard their facilities, protect budgets, and enhance the quality of care.
Learning Objectives:
1. Identify Cost Drivers in Aging Facilities: Understand the common indoor environmental challenges associated with aging buildings and their financial, operational, and safety impacts.
2. Implement Proactive Maintenance Strategies: Learn how to design and execute environmental audits and assessments that prevent issues before they arise, saving time and resources.
3. Enhance Risk Management Practices: Develop risk mitigation strategies that align with regulatory compliance and improve overall patient and staff safety in healthcare environments.
4. Improve Indoor Environmental Quality for Occupants - Attendees will learn how indoor air quality, water management, and hazardous material controls contribute to a healthier environment for patients, staff, and visitors, reducing liability and costs.
