About this event

Join us at the Local 189 Training Facility for this event, sponsored by the Local 189 Pipefitters Union. The event schedule is as follows:
  • 4:00-4:30PM: Arrival and tour group organization
  • 4:30-5:00PM: Tour of the facility, including discussion on the certification process
  • 5:00-6:00PM: Presentation and panel discussion on Medical Gas Certification
  • 6:00-7:00PM: Happy hour with light appetizers and beer/wine
Our panelists include:

Gary Thomas is a seasoned professional with over 17 years of experience at DIRTT Construction Solutions, where he currently serves as the Regional Healthcare Segment Manager, a position he assumed in 2023. His extensive expertise in modular prefabricated interior construction enables him to effectively meet the unique requirements of healthcare clients and partners across the Central United States and Saudi Arabia.

Frank Eisenhower has over 30 years of experience with Karpinski Engineering and opened our Columbus office in 2007. Under his leadership, it has grown from a one-man office to a team of 25 engineers and technical staff. Frank is a hands-on Principal and Mechanical Engineer who is actively involved in project design. He has worked on a diversity of projects – including higher education facilities, offices, and museums – and he specializes in healthcare design. He has also designed systems for some of the firm’s largest infrastructure projects.

J.J. Richards is a 28-year member of Local 189 with 23 years experience installing Medical Gas Systems. J.J. is an ASSE Series 6000 and 6050 Medical Gas Instructor, Certified 6010 Medical Gas Installer, 6020 Medical Gas Inspector, and 6040 Medical Gas Maintenance. J.J. has served 10 years on the ASSE Series 6000 Medical Gas Standard Working Group and 7 years on the ASSE Series 12000 Infection Control and Risk Assessment (ICRA) Working Group.

Brien Bellous 
has worked for three public sector municipalities in his 23+ years of inspection experience. For 17 Years Brien has served as an Inspection Supervisor for Franklin County Public Health and he currently manages the Plumbing and Medical Gas Inspection Program. Brien has a long history of leadership in industry professional organizations such as the Ohio Association of Plumbing Inspectors and has served on the ICC plumbing and mechanical code committee for 7 years. Brien has also participated in the education and training of students of a federally recognized apprenticeship program.
